The LET’S MEDITATE SERIES: A meditation teacher and an artist team up to create a series of guides on how to meditate

I have been meditating for almost 40 years. During that time I had a plan in the back of my mind to create a book that will gently introduce people to the practice of meditation.

The idea was to make it like a children’s book … so big print and lots of pictures.

In June of 2025 I was ready to get the project started. The first step was to find an illustrator.

I did a Google search for “children’s book illustrators” and the first web page that came up was a Reddit post about children’s books.

In that thread an artist posted a link to her work and stated that she was available for new projects. The artist was a Brazilian illustrator named Thaís Suizo.

I checked out the link which was to an artist community that featured some of her pieces.

I was blown away. Her illustrations were amazing!

The Reddit post was very old. I replied to it hoping she would see my response. I also contacted her through the artist community where her art has been posted.

I did a search for her name and found an old Facebook and LinkedIn account and contacted her those accounts as well.

I thought to myself “THIS is the person I need to help me with this series.” I knew she was the one.

Because Thaís’s web presence was so outdated I figured the odds of her getting back to me were slim. And if she did get back, her rates would be far beyond my budget.

However, the next day I received a message from her. I explained to her what the plan was, which was essentially to have a page of text followed by a full page illustration. Each book would have about 40 illustrations.

She was a meditator herself and loved the idea. I asked what her rates were and they were surprisingly affordable. It was one of those “meant to be” moments.

We got right to work and after a few months published the first book in the LET’S MEDITATE SERIES, an introduction to meditation called “Book One: Let’s Get Started!”

We recently published our second book, “Book Two: 24 Ways to Calm the Monkey Mind,” and are currently working on “Book Three: Energy and the Chakra System.”

This store evolved from the idea of making Thaís’s art available as prints. A poster of her art would light up any room.

And as I learned more about print-on-demand websites, it became clear that there are all sorts of items where her art could shine …  including t-shirts and coffee mugs.

So we’ll continue on with our series, and as Thaís submits her latest illustrations, I will make them available in this store.
